In the world of advertising, it is very important to take note of how important a role the media plays. Now in order for the clients to be able to get media space, there has to be someone in the middle who would know how to get the best space at the best kinds of prices. Now just to give an idea to people, media buyers or buyers in short, are the ones who have the know how when it comes to getting the correct ad space for the clients. They will be working together very closely with the planners when it comes to satisfying the needs and wants of the customer. Of course the very first job of the buyer would be to meet with the client and study the product to be promoted. Now the first thing that he would have to do would be to determine the primary target market of the product or service. Of course he will make use of demographics and strategies in order to find the target.

When he has already done this, then of course, he has to think of which advertising channel is the best to grab the attention of these people. Now there are a lot of channels to choose from like print advertisements, billboards, radio ads, and TVCs. If they have an idea on what channel or channels should be used, they will give a recommendation.

When that is done, then he will now create a proposal on what types of ads will be used and how the team is going to implement the campaign. Included here would be a schedule of how many ads would run per day and how long the campaign will be. Of course a part of the schedule will also include a budget portion to give an idea to clients how much to allocate.

If the client approves of the proposal, then the next step would be to pay the media providers a small visit. The buyers will then present their plan and try to get the best deals for the clients. Of course negotiation skills are quite important here simply because clients would want to get the best deals that they can get from the providers.

So when that is done already, he will now monitor the schedule of each ad and how it is running. He will also be constantly contacting the client to know if the ad campaign is effective. If it does not seem to work, then the buyer may suggest a brand new approach and try out a new strategy.

So basically, these are some of the things that media buyers would be doing. Now their job is actually a very tedious one because they will be coming up with the plan, implementing it, and dealing with the providers. However, these professionals are trained to handle all of these aspects and get their job done to please the customers.
