The Baltimore Orioles: How They Tie Into Truck Wraps & Advertising

By Robert Sutter

Sometimes tourists have to be drawn into certain areas by the best attractions in the world. Amusements parks are a great example of this; they can provide enjoyment for just about anyone, so the ability to go to parks like these does not require much in the way of convincing. However, what about being drawn in with the idea of baseball? This is where the Baltimore Orioles can come into play and experts in truck wraps will be able to tell you why this is the case.

According to a report on CBS DC, a billboard was placed along the I-295, a route in Maryland that is stationed just outside of the Washington D.C. border. As far as the details of said billboard are concerned, it features a group of three players from the Baltimore Orioles baseball team: Adam Jones, Chris Davis and Manny Machado. While this should be enough to garner anyone's attention - especially that of a sports fan - you may be curious as to what it is that the billboard was designed for. To put it simply, it's meant to sell baseball tickets.

The article stated that the billboard has a visible phone number that people can call into for the sake of purchasing tickets. Its location is pretty intuitive, too, outside of the fact that it is placed along the I-295. For those who do not know, the billboard in question has been positioned about 6.5 miles from Nationals Park, which opened during 2008. Given the fact that this is seen as the home of the Washington Nationals, it is easy to see that this can perpetuate the feud that is natural for sports teams to have.

Authorities along the lines of JMR Graphics know all too well just how important it is for ads to be placed with effectiveness. Specifically, location is crucial and this is one of the many important points to consider when working with truck wraps, billboards, fliers, and other means of showcasing goods and services. For this reason, the action of constructing a billboard and setting a particular design in enemy territory for sports team is likely to draw attention. However, if it can go about such an endeavor, it has done its job well.

Sports fans are some of the most passionate individuals, in regards to their hobbies, and I believe that baseball stands tall in this regard. Individuals want to be able to support their teams and the idea of a billboard featuring an opposing team being built stands a great chance of eliciting a tremendous amount of ire. However, in terms of ad placement alone, it's easy to see why this was done. The proximity towards Nationals Park, in addition to the appeal towards tourists, is hard to overlook.
