Augmented Reality Defense And First Shooter Games

By Jason Cole

When it comes to war games, virtual reality is now taking on themes which relate to past world events. For example, Front Defense is an augmented reality defense game based on, and puts players in the middle of, World War II. As such, it is important that those planning on playing this game understand that is more graphic and violent than most.

An arcade style game, First Defense is based on the last firefight at the end of World War II. In the game, the Normandy invasion is long over, though the firefights of war have just began. It is at this point that Front Defense puts the player in place as an Allied Forces hero sent to battle in the last attacks by an Axis in a fictional European town.

The game allows the player to hunker down behind various well patrolled and armed positions while reloading weapons, switching, diving and ducking. Weapons in the game's war chest include man-mounted guns, grenades, assault weapons and others. For, players often need all the assistance available when it comes to defeating the enemy.

The game, created by some of the best designers and developers uses heavy weaponry in the game as this was the case in real life. As in war, the game uses the power of virtual reality and the precision of battlefield and room scaling to create scenes which are almost as realistic as being an active member of the military.

Front Defense is rated as one of the most realistic, active and intense war games currently available. For, the intensity and player experience as the WWII shooter is the first virtual reality game to use scaling in a way to recreate actual scenes from history. In addition, the precision tracking used during point and shoot experiences allows the player to create strategic positions.

Being able to use a variety of weapons creates a situation in which the player must act on both knowledge and instinct. For, the player can choose to use armored cars, dive bombers and tanks in an effort to defeat opposing forces. Most players actually find the finale to be one of the most dramatic of any previous first shooter war games. In fact, many suggest that the finale is nothing less than climatic in comparison.

While these games have often been controversial, it seems most are becoming more accepted. For, it has been discovered that a number of individuals have been using the games for stress relief, which could actually provide positive aspects. At the same time, it is recommended that children under 18 be supervised whether playing Front Defense or other first shooter games.

The overall primary features are that the game is a single player model with steam leader boards. Before beginning play, it is important to note that Front Defense is a Windows based game and can be played with Windows 7 and beyond, noting that software prior to Windows 7 is not compatible. Whereas, the game has a 12GB RAM and NVIDIA graphics interface which provides some of the most color and detailed scenes than most other games on the market.
