Business Security System Ideas For Theft Reduction

By Mark Mahaffey

If you are having a problem with inventory loss due to theft, consider a low-tech business security system idea that just might save you money. Decide which of your merchandise is the most valuable and vulnerable to being stolen, and move these items to the very middle of the store.

The purpose is to make the thief have to walk through the store and to a prominent area in order to steal the merchandise. When he realizes how risky it will be to steal from this area, he may just decide to give up his idea for theft.

It is smart to always be on the lookout for other helpful ideas that you can implement and keep you products safe from criminals. One good idea is to meet with other store owners regularly. You can get together with them and find out what low-tech ways they are keeping their stores safer from burglary.

However, you may decide that in addition to the low-tech options, you also want a higher tech business security system. A great option is an alarm system. An alarm system can be installed and programmed to notify you in the event that a burglar tries to break in. Putting alarms on your doors and windows is one way to do this.

When someone tries to break in, an alarm will sound not only in the store (which may in fact scare the crook away), but an alert will be sent to your security monitoring company.

That company can then call the police for you and have help sent to your store. You can also have security cameras set up in the store that are controlled by motion detectors. As the crook moves about, either inside or outside of your store, the cameras will turn on automatically and begin recording the activity. This may help you identify the criminal in a court of law.
