Long Island SEO: The Biggest Do's And Don'ts Realtors Should Recognize

By Paula Hess

A realtor, or real estate agent, is an individual that's responsible for facilitating property sales. Without this specialist, new families cannot secure their first homes and new houses cannot be purchased either. These are just a few reasons why realtors matter, but it's important for them to be found online. More and more businesses exist in the digital world and Long Island SEO plays a major role in this respect. Here are a few do's and don'ts that realtors should keep in mind.

DO take advantage of social media networks. With so many forms of social media, it can be difficult to pinpoint which ones can yield the most SEO benefits. Fortunately, expertise from companies like fishbat can prove useful here. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are only a few examples, but you'll soon realize that some will be more useful than others. No realtor should be without the power that social media provides.

DON'T go into an SEO program without knowing which keywords to use. As a matter of fact, there are many terms that realtors should focus on. Keywords will be the ones that people will search for, which will produce a number of relevant links. For smaller agencies that haven't quite built their brands yet, local keywords tend to work well. For instance, if a realtor in San Antonio would like to rank, "Texas real estate agency" might be a good place to start.

DO retool your website so that it's better optimized. Did you know that web design plays a crucial role in SEO, too? If a realtor's site fails to perform at a certain level, there's a good chance that it won't rank highly. There are many factors that play into this, including speed and the quality of links. If your site isn't ranking, despite months of effort being put forth on the SEO front, it stands to reason that the site's lack of optimization is to blame.

DON'T forget that SEO is a long-term process. In other words, you're not going to see results overnight, no matter how much work you put into a single way. As a matter of fact, realtors are probably going to be working for months until visible returns are seen. With that said, it doesn't pay to become discouraged. If you remain patient and continue to work hard, you'll start to see just how much value SEO can provide.
