The Usage Of Solid Phase Extraction System And Life Preservation

By Christine Evans

As the world is getting crowded, the number of diseases has increased due to the rise of newly discovered viruses. The crowdedness of the world has forced manufacturers to use artificial materials and or chemicals to speed up production of goods. With the chemicals being carelessly disposed after usage, combined with the existing natural viruses, diseases have become resilient to science. However, scientists have made advancement in their methods, too, through the invention of a solid phase extraction system or SPE system device.

For scientists, and pharmacologist to counter the birth, and rebirth of viruses, they would have to break up the compounds of contaminated liquids. This system allows doctors to separate each compound according to the physical and chemical properties of it. This process will lead to the extraction of samples, storage and preservation, field sampling, and as a biometric indicator.

This is beneficial for the bright minds because it can be made portable. The fragile data gathered from the field may degenerate in just a matter of seconds. With this invention, the bright minds have put their utmost trust and confidence that the device is keeping the data secure, and healthy. Its portability is a benefit for researchers designated on sites where medical facilities are miles away.

SPE devices have multiple types. A scientist can determine the proper device for the desired application would depend on the volume of the sample, degree of contamination, complexity of sample matrix, quantity of compounds of interest, and type and solvent strength of sample matrix. However, there are three ways that a scientist can separate compounds of interest from impurities using a certain SPE device. Each method depends on the scheme one needs that is appropriate for the sample gathering. Below are those three processes.

The selective extraction method. Using an SPE sorbent that would bind the selected compounds of the sample, the compounds are retained when it passes through the tube. One can either choose to collect the adsorbed compounds or discard the tube containing extracted impurities.

The selective washing method. When the sample passes through, the compound of interests and impurities are retained on the SPE packing. The impurities are then rinsed with wash solutions that are capable or removing them, and will leave the compound behind.

The selective elution method. Using another sorbent, the adsorbed compound is being eluted. This will leave the strongly retained impurities behind.

The capability of this system to pinpoint biometric indicators has become very useful for scientists. The DNA extraction service being offered by this device can also be used by crime investigators to determine a suspect. Since each one has different biometrics, solving crimes has less complicated.

The unnatural materials that made up the products today have aided the formation of novelty diseases and reformulation of existent natural diseases. As the production of such products increase to keep up with the demands of the ever populating world, the brightest minds had to make the necessary steps in life preservation. Those in the scientific field are the only ones with the job of preserving life, other people, too, can help by not using products from factories that utilize hazardous materials.
